Pastor David Hodge
Pastor David has a rich heritage. He is the Great grandson of a church founder (a small Baptist congregation out in the country in Arkansas), the grandson and son of Baptist deacons. Also, his rich heritage lies in the fact he was raised in church and came to believe in Christ as savior and Lord at a very young age. At the age of nineteen he sensed the call of God on his life to full time gospel ministry but resisted until God broke down the barrier at the age of twenty-eight where he immediately entered into Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN.
Pastor David Pastored churches in Arkansas until he joined the staff of our Mother constituting church (Riverbend Community Church in Ormond Beach) from 1995 to 2005. His position there over the ten years varied from Youth Pastor, to Pastor of Singles, to Pastor of Membership, overseeing the membership assimilation events for new members, including the Christian Life and Service Seminar series (CLASSes 101-501), the ordinance of baptism, indoctrinating the new members into the fellowship and operating the Hospitality Center for guests.David came to TurningPoint in April of 2005 while we were still Riverbend North, a mission of Riverbend. We were constituted into TurningPoint Community Church on December 4, 2005. Previously Pastor David had pastored in Hot Springs, Arkansas and for nine years at Friendly Hope Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Ark. A graduate of Marmaduke (Ark.) High School, David went on to play basketball collegiately at Arkansas State University. He received his education at Arkansas State, Williams Baptist College (formerly Southern Baptist College) in Walnut Ridge, Ark., and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tenn.
Pastor David's Purpose Statement: "To Praise God, to Please Terri, to Push self in things which are Above, to Promote God's graces in my children, to Prosper the church; in all, deriving Pleasure in God."
